Relying on the unreliable narrator of your own life story

I sometimes wonder if I'm an unreliable narrator. That voice which tells a story, a story where you, the reader, is never sure of the truth. I have to stop reading certain kinds of books: Gone Girl, The Girl on a Train, and just this week Dennis Lehane's Since We Fell, a twisting force of a book, that had even me wondering what the true story was.
