Earlier this year RÜFÜS shook up the alternative dance scene with the premiere of You Were Right, the first track from their forthcoming second album. Now, the Sydney trio – Tyrone Lindqvist, Jon George and James Hunt – are taking the hit single on a national tour, heading around the country and stopping in Canberra on October 29 at ANU Bar.

RÜFÜS keyboardist Jon George says the group is super excited to be touring on home soil again and can't wait to visit the nation's capital.

"We've been coming to Canberra for a long time now. Our first show outside Sydney was there back in 2011, so it's nice to come back and see new and old faces," he says.

"We'd been away from home for a while, touring for a few months and writing new music in Germany. When we came home You Were Right was pretty much the first thing we wrote in Sydney."

With their widely-acclaimed debut album Atlas under their belt, the boys are in the studio once again and have almost finished putting together a new album, which is still very hush hush.

"We can't give too much away other than saying that we are planning on sharing a few pieces from it in the coming months," George says.

"It's definitely something that we are really proud of."

Despite the second album being kept tightly under wraps, George assures that it will stay true to their signature sound.

"I think we are just more sure of our sound now," he explains.

"Every choice on the record is deliberate. That's why it's taken us pretty much a year of constant writing to finish it."

The You Were Right tour Aussie dates are part of the trio's world tour, which also includes November dates in the US under their North American pseudonym RÜFÜS DU SOL. Following the international dates, RÜFÜS will return down under for Falls Festival and Southbound over New Year's.

George says his favourite part of going on tour and playing live shows is seeing and hearing their music connect with their fans.

"The face-to-face experience is just incredible!" he says.

"We'll be gigging for as long as we are able to make music for sure."
