The dance group has been running for 15 years, one of many arts projects based in Tuggeranong Arts Centre since it was built in 1998. And another was launched by Arts Minister Joy Burch. Silver Linings invited members of the community to respond to the question: what would you like to create together?
There will be a program of events in October and November including the Silvery Moon Festival, a tribute to the outdoor spirit of past Tuggeranong arts events.
The association's chief executive, Rauny Worm, said it was important to remember that "it's not the building, it's the population that created art and started working with the community 25 years ago".
Under its first community arts officer, Domenic Mico, and his successors and colleagues, the association has presented and facilitated a wide variety of arts events including exhibitions, literature, plays and concerts.
Worm, who became chief executive in 2013, said she had lived in Tuggeranong for 14 years and said it had changed a lot in that time, from a "nappy valley" of young families to a more mature population and a very different audience.
And, while the association was celebrating its past, it was also looking to the future.
"I decided that to celebrate our 25th birthday it was important, again, to work with the community," Worm said. That was the reason for Silver Linings, to encourage community involvement in the creation of art.
She said the association also believed it had a strong responsibility to ensure marginalised people had access to the arts with free or low-cost events and activities where possible.
"Working in here, we've had people ask, 'Do we have to pay to come in?' and realised people think they have to pay to see the exhibitions."
She said the activities of the association weren't confined to Tuggeranong: Fresh Funk was expanding its dance classes to Gungahlin.
