In the documentation accompanying the installation you're invited to "accept the invitation to explore the sensation of being at one with the universe and every living organism in it".

And that's what 25 people did yesterday when the NGA kicked off a week of yoga in the contemporary gallery space.

As Rist's film runs through its loop, visions of the human body, both inside and out, fill the massive screens, as well as close-ups of micro natural environments.

Meanwhile participants, subconsciously perhaps, embrace that fluidity, moving from child's pose, to downward dog, to salutations, stretching out, reaching, seemingly to be part of the installation itself.

During normal exhibiting hours, visitors to the gallery are invited to remove shoes and step inside the alternative space, cushions are available for stretching out on, the space one to stop in and relax.

"Allow your mind a reprieve from the day's schedule, release your worry," reads the documentation.

"Slow your breathing by relaxing each body part, starting with the soles of your feet right up to the top of your head. Absorb your new surrounds through your eyes and ears and try to sense your environment through every pore of your skin.

"Listen to the soundscape of a rhythmic, whirring pulse. As an entity who is now open to both supra and subliminal forces, give yourself over to the 'moment of now' where your physical boundaries start to dissolve and your mind is free to glide, tilt and flow."

Yoga teacher Shirley Campbell invited the class to "embrace the space", saying it was anything but static, just like yoga.

The classes are being run this week to celebrate International Yoga Day which is Wednesday, June 21, 2017.
