Materialise in Mittagong

Here's something you might not know: the Southern Highlands and Tablelands are buzzing with top-notch makers and designers. A new exhibition at Sturt Gallery in Mittagong shows this off to great effect, with examples of textiles, woodwork, jewellery, sculpture, ceramics, glass and mixed media – a "celebration of craftsmanship, good design and a selection of fine artists deserving their share of exposure to a wider audience". The gallery is also showing selected entries in the biennial National Contemporary Jewellery Award produced by the Griffith Regional Art Gallery. Materialise, and the National Contemporary Jewellery Award are showing at Sturt Gallery, Cnr Range Road and Waverley Parade, Mittagong, until February 12.
