It's inaugural production, Playhouse Creatures, which got rave reviews during its 2016 season at The Q, will be the only Australian representative at the Mondial Du Theatre in Monaco in August 2017.
Mondial Du Theatre is an international showcase of theatre companies presented works held every four years in Monaco. The festival aims to celebrate cultural diversity through dramatic expression and to connect participating theatre companies on a global scale.
Playhouse Creatures is an important piece for showcasing the talents of women, but not just on the stage. Featuring an all-female cast with roles that challenge the actors, as well as the audience, this production is a contemporary avenue for feminist voices to be heard in a performance space.
In preparation for the festival, Pigeonhole Theatre is reaching out to the community to assist in funding their exciting journey to Monaco. The opportunity for a local theatre company to present a production at a European theatre festival puts Canberra and its actors on the map, with a spotlight on Canberra's women.

The Braidwood Regional Arts Group and the Braidwood Community Bank have joined forces to fund an art awards program for aspiring young artists in the district.
The Braidwood Regional Youth Art Awards will create an opportunity for young people to participate in a creative culture that already supports a great range of artists, writers, filmmakers and musicians, including some big-name professional practitioners.
Young people between the ages of 13 and 25 who come from the Braidwood/Bungendore/Captains Flat area are eligible to enter.
The Youth Art Awards will take place during the spring school holidays from September 22 to October 9, 2017. As well as offering $5500 in cash prizes, the program will provide winners with the opportunity to work with some of the region's most successful artists in a mentoring and support scheme valued at another $2850. The work will be exhibited in a week-long show at the well-established professional art gallery within Braidwood Community Arts Centre.
The Braidwood Regional Youth Art Awards are divided into three categories: ages 21-25, ages 17-20 and ages 13-16.

Canberra Symphony Orchestra returns to NewActon for another instalment in the popular Kids' Cushion Concert series. Join the CSO Wind Quintet led by Megan Pampling, and narrator Duncan Driver, for a fun morning of live music and storytelling featuring tales such as The Adventures of Sebastian the Fox. Remembering Mabo
The National Film and Sound Archive of Australia and the National Museum of Australia will be celebrating the Mabo legacy in a special event on July 5.
Artist Gail Mabo and filmmaker Dr Trevor Graham will share their memories of Edward Koiki Mabo at the NFSA's Arc cinema, following a free screening of the documentary Mabo: Life of an Island Man.
Dr Graham knew Eddie Mabo and worked with him on Land Bilong Islanders, a 1989 film about his court case. He subsequently directed Mabo: Life of an Island Man in close co-operation with his family.
"These films provide an opportunity to remind the world that Eddie Mabo was not a court case, but a human being who fought for his rights and those of his family and indigenous peoples across Australia," Dr Graham said.
This one-off event is free, but online bookings are essential. It is part of a joint program developed by the NFSA and the NMA. In addition to the screening, the NFSA has published an online curated collection celebrating Eddie Mabo's legacy. It features excerpts from documentaries, as well as songs about Mabo, performed by Neil Murray (Warumpi Band), Yothu Yindi, and Rygela Band.
