The boys have added a Milo dessert to the menu, turning the chocolate and malt powder from the classic green tin into soft serve ice cream.

While shovelling spoonfuls into your mouth while your parents weren't looking was a pretty satisfying way to enjoy the iconic Aussie snack, the soft serve version is pretty good too.

The dessert is actually a nod to Griffith Vietnamese Restaurant, the restaurant and Canberra institution run by the family of one of XO's owners, Kent Nhan.

"The Milo soft serve is inspired by the ubiquitous dessert developed by Uncle Tan, the long-standing owner-operator of Griffith Vietnamese. For as long as we have been going there, at the end of each meal you could count on a bowl of vanilla ice-cream topped with Milo," said Nhan.

"It is just such a simple, nostalgic end to a meal and really has become the stuff of legend. We thought it would be only right for us to develop our own take on it to continue the legacy. It goes without saying that Uncle Tan gets as many free cones as he wants."

It will be on the menu for at least the rest of June.
