Nathan Sertori, 35, pleaded not guilty to two counts of planning to have sex with a child outside Australia and one count of accessing child pornography when he faced the ACT Magistrates Court on Monday.

Sertori's defence lawyer Peter Woodhouse, of Ben Aulich and Associates, said his client had been arrested at the airport and had been facing identical charges in NSW.

Those charges were expected to be withdrawn in a Sydney court later this week given the matter had been transferred to the ACT.

Commonwealth prosecutor Edward Chen asked for an extended 14-week adjournment to allow time for digital forensics analysis of material found on numerous devices so the prosecution could prepare its brief of evidence.

Few details of Sertori's alleged offences were aired when he appeared before Magistrate Glenn Theakston.

But an Australian Federal Police statement released last month said police would allege he had planned to leave Sydney to engage in sexual acts with children in Britain.

He had been arrested on July 12 after AFP child protection officers got a tip from INTERPOL and launched an investigation in June, the statement said.

Sertori was released on bail subject to strict conditions. The case will return to court in November.
