Alexander John Baudinette, 30, faced court on charges of burglary, theft, and unlawful possession of stolen property in October last year.

Police told the court they suspected he was involved in a series of burglaries, including at his mother's home, the Ainslie Football Club and a Braddon construction site, between June and September.

He was arrested after a search warrant was executed at his partner's home, and police alleged he made multiple admissions in a subsequent interview.

He pleaded guilty to three counts of burglary and two counts of theft.

Both his mother, who he allegedly burgled, and his father refused to have him live with them because of his drug addiction.

The court heard he had a sizeable drug habit, and had no income to support it.

Justice John Burns sentenced Baudinette to two years and five months jail in the ACT Supreme Court on Tuesday.

He said he had a relatively short criminal record, but noted his long history of drug use which began when he was a teenager.

Justice Burns said while he had shown a willingness to take part in alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs, he had an unsatisfactory history of compliance.

He said Baudinette had failed to demonstrate a consistent commitment to dealing with his drug addiction.

Justice Burns said there was a clear connection between his drug use and criminal offences, and he posed a strong risk of reoffending unless he got his drug habit under control.

He will be eligible for parole on February 14, 2015.
