As the family of bride-to-be Stephanie Scott fretted about where she was, her alleged killer washed his clothes and hung them on a Hills Hoist in the backyard of his Riverina home.
School cleaner Vincent Stanford, 24, waved to his neighbours over the fence and told them about how busy he had been, the day after he allegedly killed the Leeton school teacher on Easter Sunday.
But he had not been rostered to clean the school the day he allegedly attacked Ms Scott, 26, and killed her.
Although police have yet to find the body of Ms Scott they will allege she was killed on Easter Sunday.

The Canberra Raiders are set to announce the signing of Gold Coast Titans half Aidan Sezer as early as Friday, clouding the future of young playmaker Mitch Cornish.
Sezer, 23, has agreed to a three-year deal with the Raiders from 2016 and is viewed as a long-term halves partner for Blake Austin, who joined the club from the Wests Tigers this season.
Cornish, 22, comes off contract with Canberra at the end of the season and was replaced in the NRL squad last weekend by Sam Williams, who made a dominant return to the top grade and remains contracted for 2016.

A collision on Athllon Drive at Cowlishaw Street intersection in Greenway this morning caused the closure of a southbound lane. ACT Policing reopened the lane to traffic just before 7.20am.

Sammie Behr experienced mixed emotions when her daughter Eden, 5, was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder last year.
"I thought, 'What does it mean for her future?'," Ms Behr said.
Ms Behr said recent high-profile incidents, including the alleged confinement of a student with autism in an ACT school and a young boy with the disorder who went missing in Victoria for five days, showed many other people in the community also didn't understand. didn't either.
It was a lack of public awareness of the disorder that inspired Ms Behr to walk and ride her scooter around Lake Burley Griffin for 24 hours from Friday afternoon.
She also wanted to raise money for Autism Asperger ACT, a non-profit organisation which has provided support and resources since Eden's diagnosis.
