Employment Minister Eric Abetz says further possible savings could be found in the federal public service to compensate for up to $25 billion in tax cuts floated by Treasurer Joe Hockey but has ruled out another crackdown on hiring staff.
As Mr Hockey faced questions on Monday about how he planned to reduce the deficit at the same time as slashing taxes, Mr Abetz said cost savings could be found in further streamlining of the federal bureaucracy.

8:46am: A tree has fallen on a car at Hobart Avenue in Forrest, the Emergency Services Agency has confirmed.
One person was inside the car at the time however, they were not injured and did not need to be taken to hospital.

There will be temporary changes to traffic arrangements near the Arboretum in coming weeks as the ACT government starts to harvest pine trees along the Molonglo River Corridor as part of the Barrer Hill Box-Gum Woodland Restoration Project.
Logs will be hauled from the site between 4am and 8am with temporary traffic arrangements in place to allow trucks to safely exit via River Road and Forest Drive, west of the Tuggeranong Parkway.
There will also be restricted access to several walking trails and cycle paths in the areas around Barrer Hill, south of the Arboretum and a small section of forest south of the Zoo.

Canberra copped a drenching as 6.4 millimetres of rain fell between 9am and 6pm Monday.
Weatherzone.com.au meteorologist Kim Westcott said about 5.6 millimetres of that fell during a heavy afternoon downpour that intensified after 3.30pm.
The rest of the week will see a few more millimetres, bringing the week's total to between 15 and 20 millimetres.
