The tip has been prepared to receive the remains of 1022 Fluffy houses, with the Asbestos Taskforce estimating that each home will be reduced to 10 cubic metres of rabble, filling about 17 trucks of contaminated material to be dumped in the West Belconnen asbestos tip.
The demolition is beginning slowly with five pilot houses, but the taskforce anticipates that once it gears up to six houses a week, 20 trucks a day, or 100 a week, they will make their way to via approved routes.

David Shillington has labelled Cameron Smith's portrayal as "the villain" in a TV special with Alex McKinnon as "overplayed", but said he can see both sides of the story and he can't blame the former Newcastle Knights player for how he feels.
Canberra Raiders prop Shillington has played eight Origins and 14 Tests under Queensland and Australia captain Smith, and believes Smith would have handled things differently if he knew the extent of the injury, which left McKinnon a quadriplegic.
Appearing on Channel Nine's 60 Minutes on Sunday, McKinnon labelled Smith's actions as "f---king ridiculous" as he watched footage of the Melbourne skipper arguing against a penalty after the tackle which ended his career.

Westbound from the intersection with the Majura Parkway on-ramp to the intersection with Majura Road will be closed from 9 am to 1 pm.
Eastbound will be closed from Northcott Drive to Morshead Drive from 12 pm to 4 pm. Motorists are urged to make use of the diversion that will be in place on Northcott Drive.

Ceramics will take over the capital when the Australian Ceramics Triennale starts on Wednesday, July 9. It's the first time Canberra has hosted the event since 1996.
Although the conference only runs for three days, more than 35 exhibitions are taking place across the capital and beyond in July, to coincide with it.
As well as gallery exhibitions, the triennale's chairwoman, Craft ACT chief executive and artistic director Avi Amesbury, said the public program would include a market place at the National Gallery of Australia on Sunday, July 12, and many pop-up shows.

Canberra could be about to see a boom in new outdoor bars as the ACT government moves to allow restaurants and live venues to serve drinks outside as part of changes to regulation.
Removing historic constraints on the service of alcohol outside in the ACT, officials from the new Access Canberra agency will begin considering applications for venues to provide outdoor bar service, already popular with patrons in other cities around Australia and overseas.
