Blood samples collected over 30 years from 7000 Aborigines in missions and settlements across Australia could be taken out of long-term storage at the ANU in Canberra and used for genome science.
Samples and donors' family history and places of birth were gathered from the 1960s up to the 1990s before consent protocols which exist today were in place. So before any research begins, the surviving donors and their relatives will be consulted.

Melbourne Victory took out the A-League grand final, steamrolling Sydney FC at AAMI Park, but Football Federation Australia chairman Frank Lowy also put on a show.
Lowy avoided a potential life-threatening injury, landing on his head after a stage fall at the trophy presentation.

9:17am: Pialligo Avenue is open in both directions after a two-car crash blocked airport-bound traffic.
9:03am: Police have warned of delays after that two-car crash on Pialligo Avenue. The crash at Oaks Estate Road has blocked traffic travelling towards Canberra and the airport. Try and avoid the area.
8:40am: The Pialligo Avenue prang was a two-car crash at the Oaks Estate Road intersection, police say. Police will direct traffic in the area and an ambulance is on its way.
8:39am: Watch out if you're travelling along Pialligo Avenue towards the airport - there's a motor vehicle accident near Oaks Estate Road.
Bus travellers might be facing some changes to the work and school commute from today with the new ACTION weekday timetable out.
Changes include direct services to Erindale from Monash, Oxley and Wanniassa; more direct services to the city from Oxley, Wanniassa, Kambah and Monash; and an Xpresso service through Macquarie and Aranda to the parliamentary triangle.
There's also additional morning Red Rapid services between the city and Gungahlin; and the extension of evening Blue Rapid services through the Tuggeranong Bus Station to Lanyon.
Students are also affected by the new timetable with six new school services to meet demand at Trinity Christian School, St Anthony's Primary, Wanniassa High School, Merici College and Daramalan College. Watch out for some changes to existing services too.

Canberra music producer and DJ Jono Fernandez is taking on Los Angeles as a judge on new talent competition Your Shot USA.
Your Shot gives budding DJs the chance at stardom on the club scene – contestants don't need any experience and are given weeks of training and mentoring throughout the competition.
They perform 25-minute sets for the judges and the winner gets the opening gig for international star DJ Tiesto at a Las Vegas nightclub.

When it comes to doggy couture, Sunday's RSPCA Million Paws Walk showed Canberra's canines have style, with elaborate costumes galore.
But thanks to the 764 dogs that wore bandanas, the ACT has broken a Guinness World Record – with almost twice as many dogs wearing the scarves as there were at the record created in Canada last year.
