As part of Tuesday's territory budget, $24.6 million will be allocated for duplication of the road from Erindale Drive to Ellerston Avenue – a bigger price tag and smaller scope of works than promised by ACT Labor in the 2012 election campaign.
In September 2012, former chief minister Katy Gallagher promised a re-elected Labor government would spend $19.6 million to upgrade Ashley Drive between Erindale Drive and Johnson Drive.

The man who sunk the hopes of a state with a long-range field goal to deny NSW a series victory in 2012 has done it again, this time sinking the boot into NSW in the opening game of the series to take an 11-10 victory at ANZ Stadium on Wednesday night.
- Robbie Farah pushed through the pain barrier in another hotly contested State of Origin encounter, but the Maroons believe he should never have got the chance after claiming the NSW skipper should have been removed from the fray with concussion.

- Australia's most experienced prop Ben Alexander has unfinished business in Canberra, wanting to stay until he has won some silverware with the ACT Brumbies.
9:48pm: Paramedics have taken the female driver injured in the Spence crash to the Canberra Hospital.
9:43am: There's been a five-car crash on Yamba Drive near Launceston Street, police say.
Kuringa Drive in Spence has been re-opened after a female driver was rescued from her car after this morning's crash.
And in Gowrie, a car and a motorcycle collided on Bugden Avenue at Kellett Street. Police expect the intersection to be cleared in about five minutes.
9:33am: There's been a second prang in Gowrie this morning - this time at the Bugden Avenue and Kellett Street intersection. Drive carefully.
9:18am: The Ashley Drive two-car crash has been cleared and the road is fully open.
Looking north to Spence, police say Kuringa Drive is blocked in both directions however, a tow truck isn't too far away.
9:08am: Watch out for a crash at the Ashley Drive and Bugden Avenue intersection in Gowrie.
8.44am: Firefighters and Ambulance officers are on the scene of that two-vehicle crash in Spence. Firies are using hydraulic rescue tools to free one patient from one of the vehicles.
8.30am: There's been a crash in Spence, at the intersection between Kuringa Drive and Owen Dixon Drive. Emergency services are on their way.

Mr Pearson and his wife Megan had previously lived in Isaacs, where they regularly fed the crimson rosellas, and feared one consequence of their move to suburbia would be no contact with the flying flowers of the bush.
"That has turned out to be not at all the case," Ian told Gang Gang.
"We have catalogued more than 40 different species coming to the yard so far.
"There were 15 king parrots last week; they live in one of the oak trees in the complex."
