A Canberra mother with "barely two cents to rub together" will be able to buy a home for her family after taking out Monday night's $1 million Lotto draw.

The woman in her 40s - who has asked to remain anonymous - was unaware she had won the first division prize until she was contacted by a NSW Lotteries official on Tuesday morning.
"I'm shaking at the moment. I've had such a horrible start to the year so the other day I decided I'd buy myself a Lotto ticket,' she said, according to NSW Lotteries.
"I've barely had two cents to rub together - I even worked an extra shift yesterday to earn some extra money. Now I'll be able to buy myself a home. This is wonderful for me and a great head start in life for my children."
The woman is one of two new millionaires after Monday night's draw. The other first division winning entry was sold in Dungog, NSW.
The woman's winning ticket was purchased at the Nextra Hyperdome in Tuggeranong.
Newsagent Tom Wang said it was the agency's first division one prize winner.
But he can't take any credit for selling the lucky Lotto slip, he said.
"My staff sold it, not me," he said.
There were nine division one winners in NSW Lotteries across the ACT in the past year, who took home nearly $90 million in prize money.
The winning numbers were 10, 23, 27, 26, 3 and 8, with the supplementary numbers of 5 and 24.
