As the last working week of the year for many of you draws to a close, I bring you the (hopefully not unexpected) news that it's only four sleeps until Christmas. Fear not, for those of you who still have shopping to cram in, we've got your guide to what's open when in Canberra this holiday period.
Now, as today starts to heat up to a partly cloudy maximum of 28 degrees, here's the latest headlines.
Boy recovering after horror crash
It was an horrific scene near Braidwood when a car veered onto the wrong side of the Kings Highway on Tuesday. Five people were taken to hospital, including 13-year-old Thomas 'TJ' Campagna from Jerrabomberra who is now recovering in ICU.
A Batemans Bay woman was charged with dangerous driving after the crash, having allegedly driven from the coastal town to the ACT while high on ice. She faced Queanbeyan Local Court yesterday afternoon where she was denied bail.
Elliot Williams spoke to TJ's mother, Alanna Davis, to check in on the youngster's recovery.
Patients facing long elective surgery wait times
Bad news if you're waiting on an elective surgery, folks.
The ACT is the only only jurisdiction where median wait times for public elective surgery can top a year, subjecting Canberrans to some of the country's longest delays.
An Australian Institute of Health and Welfare report shows the median wait time for all public elective procedures in Canberra was 46 days, a figure second longest only to NSW.
Daniella White has the story, including which particular surgeries have the longest wait times - I'll give you a hint, you wouldn't want to be suffering from a perforated eardrum...
Canberra keen for more Thunder
Fingers crossed, sports fans - Cricket ACT is keen to lure more Big Bash action to the Manuka Oval in the coming years to bolster Canberra's bid for its own licence.
Big Bash officials are reportedly considering a 16-game expansion next season, paving the way for Canberra to host multiple fixtures if the rapidly growing competition.

New home for Cataldo's
Who, what, hair, when, why? (If you think it's too early for puns, time for another sip of coffee!)
Cataldo's hairdressing salon is moving to Ainslie Place after 33 years facing Northbourne Avenue, with owner Angelo Cataldo saying the time was right for a move.
Jil Hogan chatted to the Cataldos to get the latest on the new salon, located on the stretch between the Canberra Centre and Canberra Theatre, which is kitted out with new furniture and equipment imported from Italy. Read more here.
