Murder investigation costs millions
The cost of pursuing David Eastman for the alleged murder of Colin Winchester is nearing $30 million, according to figures provided by ACT authorities.
Kirsten Lawson details the funds set aside over successive budgets aimed at trialling and retrialling Mr Eastman.
Mr Eastman was found guilty of shooting Mr Winchester and sentenced to life imprisonment in 1995. His 1997 appeal to the High Court was dismissed in 2000, but he continued challenging his conviction with ongoing cases until 2007, when he was finally refused leave to appeal.

Greens MLA questions investments
The ACT government has shares in more than 1700 companies, including large poker machine manufacturers and oil and gas companies, and one politician is particularly unimpressed.
Greens Murrumbidgee MLA Caroline Le Couteur has questioned the ACT government's investments, arguing its negative screening processes should be extended to exclude these companies too.

Defence Housing releases Gungahlin tender
Defence Housing Australia has released a tender for the design and construction of 25 houses in the Gungahlin suburb of Throsby.
The organisation already manages more than 800 homes in the Gungahlin area, including more than 200 in Harrison, which is adjacent to Throsby.

Fire risk 'underestimated'
A University of NSW Canberra report has found that fire risk was underestimated at the proposed site for the Ginninderry housing development.
Georgina Connery reports that the revelations have prompted the Ginninderry Falls Association to call for the Yass Valley Council to delay any decision to rezone land on the NSW side of the project.
