The latest figures from the Australian Institute of Petroleum showed the average price of unleaded fuel in Canberra was 147.7c a litre last week. Nationally, prices were up 0.2c to 148.8c a litre to set a new three-month high.
CommSec economist Savanth Sebastian said more increases were likely, given higher crude oil prices and the weakening dollar.
"The weaker Aussie dollar has added 11c a litre to the petrol price in just over the past two months. CommSec expects fuel prices to lift by a further 2-3 cents a litre over the next fortnight," he said.
