Canberra petrol prices have spent the tenth week in a row at a five-year record high, despite falls of up to 11 cents in other capital cities.

The price of unleaded fuel in the ACT remained steady at an average of 157.9 cents per litre in the week to Sunday, according to petrol price data released by the Australian Institute of Petroleum.
But the national average price fell 3.9 cents a litre to 151.7 cents, while motorists in Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane all enjoyed significant price drops at the pump, falling 6.3, 8.5, and 11 cents per litre respectively.
According to CommSec, the price should continue to fall over the coming week.
“Motorists have received a much needed reprieve when it comes to fuel prices. And there is further good news around the corner. The easing of the Syrian crisis and the lifting of the Aussie dollar represent a double whammy benefit for Aussie motorists,” CommSec said.
“Petrol prices look likely to ease further over the coming fortnight. In Australian dollar terms the Singapore unleaded price has eased by over $11 since early September and it should result in a 3 cent fall in pump prices over the next 7-10 days.”
Around the region, petrol in Batemans Bay cost 157.9 cents per litre, Cooma was 162.1 cents, Goulburn 157.2, Queanbeyan 156.5, and Yass 161.1.
