The $4.4 million prize pool was shared eight ways, with each winner pocketing $554,000.
The Dickson Newsagency sold the winning ticket to the lucky ACT player, a regular in the shop "for many years" who wishes to remain anonymous.
"We've had a lot of winners over the years, we've sold many, many big prizes, but it's always good when it's one of your regulars and you know that it will go towards making their lives a lot better," Dickson Newsagency co-owner Andrew Nuttall said.
"Half a million bucks is pretty nice."
Mr Nuttall said it's not the biggest prize the family business has sold the ticket for in its 30-plus years but it's the first Division One winner sold in some time.
"I've been telling customers for a few months now that we're definitely due because we haven't had a good winner for a while," he said. "I've also told them things happen in threes, so we're at the start of a roll.
"Obviously it's all luck and it just comes down to timing, but generally after a bit of a spell when we haven't had a good winner, we do get a few in a row, so I'm hoping that trend continues."
The biggest winning ticket the newsagency has sold was a $2 million prize.
"We've also sold a scratchie that was a million dollar winner, we had a guy come in on his 21st birthday who'd won $937,500 but we've probably sold over 10 winners above half a million bucks," Mr Nuttall said.
The Canberra winner shared the prize pool with four winning entries purchased in Victoria, and one each in NSW, Queensland and the Northern Territory.
The lucky numbers were 1, 10, 14, 5, 33 and 29, and the supplementary numbers were 9 and 22.
