Canberra Times photographer Rohan Thomson has just been announced as a finalist in the 2015 National Photographic Portrait Prize.

The Walkley-nominated Thomson is one of just three Canberra finalists in a pool of 44, along with Fairfax photographer Alex Ellinghausen and long-time artist and lecturer at the ANU School of Art Marzena Wasikowska.
Another Fairfax photographer, Sydney-based Janie Barrett, is also on the list.
The 44 competition finalists will have their work on display at the National Portrait Gallery from March 20, 2015, when the winner of the $25,000 prize will be announced.
The gallery announced earlier this month that it had received the most entries this year since it began in 2007, with almost 2500 amateur and professional photographers submitting images.
This is the first appearance in the prize for both Thomson and Ellinghausen, while Wasikowska was a finalist in 2011 along with her daughter, the actor Mia Wasikowska.
