More than 1200 people, most of whom were ACT school leavers, received offers to study at the University of Canberra and Australian National University in the Universities Admissions Centre early January round, released on Friday.

The offers were made to ACT school leavers who had placed the local universities as their first preference to study in 2014, and whose Australian Tertiary Entrance Rank had met their course criteria.
The University of Canberra also offered places to school leavers who applied through the UAC system from states other than NSW, as well as some non-school leavers.
The offers make up a large proportion of the 2700 ACT students who received ATARs last month, with the ANU making almost 600 offers and UC making 630 on Friday, ahead of the deadline to change preferences through UAC on Saturday.
"The evidence is students who get offers early tend to accept those offers, so that's why we're strategically looking at students in our own backyard and trying to give them an early indication of their eligibility for UC courses," Scott Nichols, the University of Canberra's director of student administration and planning said on Friday.
"We hope that everyone who has been made an early round offer, or the majority, will accept … but for anyone who didn't get an early round offer, or who wishes to not accept or change their preferences from the early round, they're still eligible for a main round offer, which go out on January 16."
While the "vast majority" of UC courses were open to early-round offers, some ranked courses which have restricted numbers due to practical components had to leave places available for NSW students in the main round.
Students who received the offers on Friday need to accept or reject their offers before the main round of offers.
