Bywong woman Justine Wheeler took the theme to the next level by carting bunches of balloons through Civic early on Wednesday.
Ms Wheeler's outfit, which included fashionable over-the-knee boots, was mostly sourced secondhand. (The balloons were a gift for her daughter for her birthday, she explained.)
"I'm decked out in Vinnies actually," Ms Wheeler said.
Her tips for finding a fashionable bargain? "Take five minutes. Stick your head in, walk around, try it on."
Rachna Reddy, spotted on her way to work, sported layers of wool and the requisite winter boots. The Fadden woman said she preferred neutral colours during the cooler months.
"I tend to stick with darker colours, greys and blacks, and have some jewellery as well," she said.
Woden's Wayne Millar received the layers memo loud and clear, wearing a series of tops underneath a warm faux leather jacket. A scarf topped off his look.
"This jacket's multipurpose because it makes me look hip and it's not actually leather, it's vinyl, but it keeps the water off me when I'm raining," he said.
"I don't know where they're from because I think she might've got them from my sister," she laughed.
"I have to pick colour and something that's comfortable, and I layer because when you go inside it's hot."
But it was Turner's Emma Wood who wore the ultimate fashion accessory: smiling baby Anika Fiddian.
"She is a good chest warmer, so this is great for winter," she said.
