The Forde resident said she and her three daughters played netball and she was hoping for another Australian win when the national team took on their arch rivals, New Zealand's Silver Ferns.
Sara said she played goal attack and goal shooter and hoped to one day play for the Diamonds.
''I like netball because you can sort of get aggressive and I'm a bit competitive,'' she said.
About 100 people sat on the lawn or set up deckchairs to watch the match outside on the big screen.
There was merchandise on sale and netball hoops available for those who wanted to try a few shots.
Rod Dann of Cook was there with his three children, Ella, 9, Sarah, 8, and Jack, 4.
Mr Dann said he came to the arena because one of Ella's friends had won a competition to walk on to the court with the Diamonds, and they had come to watch.
He said both his daughters played netball and he was pleased to see a top-level game in Canberra.
''There's a big turn-up and obviously they're packed in inside, and there's a few people out here - it's good for Canberra to get the national games I think,'' he said.
Gemma Harris turned 10 on Sunday, and mother Nicole brought her to the arena as a birthday treat.
Gemma said she usually played in defensive positions when she took to the netball court.
''It's just having fun with my friends and hanging out,'' she said.
Outside the arena fans got their hair spray-painted green and applied temporary tattoos of the Australian flag to their faces.
Jayde Hague and friends travelled about five hours to Canberra from rural NSW on Saturday to volunteer with her sister-in-law at the Diamonds ''Salon''.
''We've been spray-painting all the little kids, tattooing them, whatever they want, face-painting them,'' she said.
Ms Hague said she had never been to a netball game and was enjoying the atmosphere outside the venue.
''It's been great, I can't wait to get into the netball and watch it,'' she said.
