Car seized under anti-hoon laws

Date

A car allegedly doing burnouts near Coree has been seized by police, the second car to be impounded under tough anti-hoon laws in less than 24 hours.

Police were called to Brindabella Road on Thursday night after a public tip-off that a large number of cars were doing burnouts on the road. The spot is known as a regular place for burnouts and hoon behaviour.

Officers watched a white Holden Commodore allegedly do a number of burnouts. The car was seized and impounded by police, and the driver will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

It follows the seizure of a white Holden ute that led police on a high-speed chase through Canberra's south early on Wednesday morning. The pursuit began after the 21-year-old driver was allegedly seen doing burnouts on Sulwood Drive.
