Navin, 27, of Watson, was last month arrested and charged with the stabbing murder of Nicholas Sofer-Schreiber.
His lawyers have indicated he will plead not guilty.
Navin, who is in custody, did not appear in the ACT Magistrates Court on Thursday.
The court heard the brief of evidence for the case against the defendant would not be ready until late May or June.
A brief of evidence must be submitted to the court before the matter can be committed for trial in the ACT Supreme Court.
Documents outlining the allegations have also not yet been tendered in court.
Mr Sofer-Schreiber was found dead in his Lyneham home by friends on Saturday, December 28.
The seven week investigation included two police raids on a northern NSW property, near Grafton.
It is understood Navin and Mr Sofer-Schreiber were acquainted.
The matter is due back in court in April.
