Chinese tourists spent a whopping $253 million in the ACT over the past year, according to figures from the latest International Visitor Survey.

The survey found that more than 51,000 Chinese tourists visited the ACT in the past 12 months, accounting for 46 per cent of all tourism spending.
According to the survey, the total number of Chinese visitors has grown by 30 per cent in the last year.
In total the ACT welcomed 228,000 international visitors last year, an annual increase of 10 per cent.
More than 170,000 tourists visited Parliament House, 151,000 went to the Australian War Memorial and 63,000 went to the National Museum.
Minister for Trade Steven Ciobo said a combined $41.2 billion had been spent in Australia by international tourists in the 12 months up to September.
"Chinese are travelling more than ever so we need to make sure Australia is their destination of choice," he said.
"Chinese visitors love Australia and all we have to offer. They spend far more than any other tourists, pumping billions of dollars into our economy.
"The more tourists we can get to Australia, the more business for our hotels, shops and restaurants which will create new local jobs."
