A 22-year-old Conder man who allegedly stole a red Mercedes convertible then used the vehicle in another burglary attempt hours later will spend the weekend in custody.

ACT Policing attended a residence in Nicholls about 12.25pm on Friday following a report of a burglary of several items, including the convertible.
Shortly before 5pm the police responded to an attempted burglary in Banks, at the other end of Canberra, a police statement said.
"The male offender was disturbed by an occupant before fleeing the scene in a red coloured sports car," police said.
The owner of a property in Conder also reported a burglary of a number of items a short time later.
Police located the stolen vehicle at a street in Conder about 9.20pm on Friday, with the offender in the vehicle fleeing despite the use of stop sticks, which are tyre deflation devices. The vehicle and the man were located soon after in Russell Drysdale Street in Conder.
"A search warrant of the offender's residence located stolen property from both the Nicholls and Conder burglaries," police said.
The man was charged with 14 offences including burglary, attempted burglary, theft, unlawful possession of a firearm and a range of driving offences.
He will appear before the ACT Magistrates Court on Monday, September 28.
