The parole board on Tuesday set Daniel Scott Williams, 40, release date for June 2017.

Williams can apply for parole again before that date but his previous failures to comply with release conditions could count against him.

Williams was arrested in Downer last week for breaching his parole after a two-week manhunt across the territory.

He did not apply for bail brought before a Canberra Magistrate on Thursday.

Williams served about 14 years in jail for his role in the 1997 murder of Ulrike Conway, who was found dead from a heroin overdose.

Williams and his accomplice Barry Steer had been hired by the victim's estranged husband, Federal Police officer John Terence Conway, and his girlfriend, Kathy Marie McFie.

Williams and Steer broke into the Evatt home and injected Mrs Conway with a lethal dose of heroin.

But the pair only received part of the promised $15,000 for the hit.

The two killers made a deal with the authorities to give evidence against Conway and McFie, in return for reduced sentences.

Williams and Steer were sentenced to 27 years jail, with a non-parole periods of 18 years, which were reduced to 12 years for their cooperation.

Steer died in prison in 2000.

Williams' full sentence expires in 2017.

He was granted parole in 2012 but was put back behind bars the following year after he breached conditions.

In June, Williams was again granted parole with conditions he be subject to drug and alcohol testing.

Court documents, tendered in the Magistrates Court last week, said the authorities became suspicious Williams had breached his parole.

On November 13, ACT Supreme Court judge Justice Hilary Penfold issued a warrant for his arrest.

It took police 12 days to track down Williams, who allegedly actively avoided arrest.

Court documents said Williams confirmed he had briefly fled the territory to evade capture upon his arrest.
