A block of land in the suburb sold for $6.825 million at a Land Development Agency auction on Tuesday and there were 11 registered bidders for the site.
The result follows the auctioning of three blocks in the suburb at the end of last year.
The ACT government reaped $15.1 million for the sale of two terrace sites and a multi-unit development site in Coombs in November.
Land Development Agency chief executive David Dawes said while there was no residential land in Coombs on the land release program for 2014/15, the government was considering a change to the schedule.
“Given the level of interest demonstrated at Tuesday's auction … the LDA is investigating what opportunities there may be to bring additional land in Coombs to the market before the end of 2014,” he said.
The almost 15,000 square metre block was purchased by K R Holdings Australia Pty Limited during a Land Development Agency auction at Regatta Point.
The site can be developed for up to 150 dwellings at a minimum of two storeys.
The block is across the road from the site of the suburb's future school.
Colliers International sales agent Shane Radnell said it was an extremely good auction with strong bidding between three parties for the site.
He said the land was sold to relatively new developers to Canberra, who had previously delivered house and land packages in the Molonglo Valley but wanted to branch out.
Mr Radnell said the key to the site was that it had been sold as a “superlot” and allowed some flexibility over the delivery of dwelling mix.
But he said he thought townhouses would be the most likely product to be built at the site, due to strong demand for the dwelling type.
The controversial sale of a block of land in Watson has also gone ahead with developers forking out $7.3 million for the almost 30,000 square metre site at the end of last month.
The block of native woodland next to Justice Robert Hope Park passed in at auction in February.
The Watson community successfully fought against the development of the park land about 12 years ago and the ACT government agreed to remove it from the future urban development program.
It became the Justice Robert Hope Park and the land adjoining it was listed on the indicative land release program for 2013/14.
At the end of last year the Land Development Agency notified Watson residents it would be sold in the new year following approval of the project under federal environmental protection legislation.
Following the sale the land will now be redeveloped into a 110 unit residential complex by Lonsdale 28 Pty Limited.
