Operation Avert began three months ago with the aim of tracking down a large number of people wanted by police, either on outstanding warrants or for breaching bail conditions.
A total of 188 people were arrested as part of the operation, with a further 170 people contacting ACT Policing from interstate regarding outstanding warrants after letters were sent out by police.
The operation concluded over the election weekend with a highly visible police campaign in which they visited about 300 residences across the ACT and Queanbeyan.
Twenty-two people in the ACT and two people in Queanbeyan were arrested for offences ranging from minor theft, burglary, aggravated robbery and threat to kill.
The operation has proved successful, Judicial Operations Acting Superintendent Donna Hofmeier said.
"Results like these send a very clear message that no matter how hard you try to hide and avoid police, we will catch up with you sooner or later.
"We encourage any persons that might have an outstanding warrant to contact police to have the matter resolved, and for anyone who may be aware of the location of someone who might be avoiding arrest for an outstanding warrant to report this information to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000."
