Two cranes crashed into each other because of inadequate communication between the operators, in one of three incidents on Canberra worksites which have sparked a safety warning for crane operators.

The incidents, which happened this year, have prompted Worksafe ACT to remind the local construction industry of the need for vigilance while operating cranes.
In one case, a crane boom came into contact with the hoisting ropes of another crane, while in another incident a crane boom was hit by the raised boom of a concrete truck.
Worksafe will visit sites over the next month to ensure crane installations are "safe and appropriate", a statement said.
Worksite operators are advised to plan carefully where there are multiple tower cranes working closely together to avoid collisions and ensure there are appropriate work systems and standards in place.
They should also have a safe system of rules for communication and crane operators should also be trained so they can perform their job safely.
