Police have charged a man with a litany of offences after he was allegedly caught driving with a licence disqualified until 2023, and then tried to change seats with a passenger as police approached the car.
Police allegedly pulled over the 21-year-old man, and a woman whose licence was also suspended, on the Hume Highway near Goulburn with two children in the back seat on Monday morning.
NSW Police said they saw the man swap out of the driver's seat with the woman after they attempted to pull the vehicle over.
Police have now charged the man and are investigating the woman.
Police say the incident occurred at about 11.20pm when police were out on patrol on the highway and the two were travelling south in a Mitsubishi Lancer.
When officers eventually pulled the car over and officers approached, they saw the female occupying the driver's seat and the two children, aged one and two, with seat belts on in the back seat.
Officers found the man had his licence disqualified until 2023, and the woman was also a suspended driver.
The man was arrested and taken to Goulburn Police Station where he was charged with a list of offences - driving while disqualified, driving in a manner dangerous to the public, driver not wearing a seatbelt, driving with an unrestrained passenger, and driving without proper control of vehicle.
He was refused bail and will appear in Goulburn Local Court on Tuesday.
