A cast of young people from ''beyond the grave'' will perform at the Tuggeranong Community Arts Centre in Pied Piper Productions' latest offering: The Dracula Rock Show.

Unlike the sulking teens from the Twilight series this re-imagining of the popular legend has injected humour and lively energy into the Dracula mythology.

Political satire also gets a run as the Queen of the Night advises Dracula to use media management to win over his minions.

''You should employ spin doctors - they have kept me in power since 1790,'' the queen, played by Teagan Ricketts, tells Dracula.

''I have been in a coma,'' replies Dracula, played by Dean Lowe-Carlus.

''So are most politicians,'' Ricketts deadpans.

Artistic director of Pied Piper Productions, Nina Stevenson, said The Dracula Rock Show was intended as light-hearted fun aimed at young children and their families.

''We have been working on this since late July,'' she said.

The show will open tomorrow and will close on Saturday, October 13, with 15 shows in total.
