A man has had his licence suspended and car confiscated after he was caught driving more than 80 kilometres an hour over the speed limit on the Hume Highway near Goulburn.

About 1am Wednesday, NSW police caught a 25-year-old man allegedly driving 191km/h in a 110km/h zone on the Hume Highway, about 10 kilometres north of Goulburn.
Police say the Central Coast man - who was alone in the car - had his licence suspended for six months, his Lexus sedan confiscated, received six demerit points and was fined $2350.
Less than 24 hours earlier on the same highway, a 22-year-old Victorian student was caught allegedly driving more than 177 kilometres an hour in a 110km/hr zone, near Rosedale Road at Mundarlo, south of Gundagai.
Police said conditions were wet and foggy when the man was caught at 7.30am Tuesday.
The driver, who held an international drivers licence, was fined $3000 and lost his right to drive in NSW for six months.
His passenger, a 23-year-old man from overseas, was also fined $325 for not wearing a seatbelt, police said.
Traffic and highway patrol commander Stuart Smith said driving at those speeds was unacceptable, especially when visibility was poor and roads were slippery.
"These are dangerous conditions to drive at speed – other drivers, be they car or truck – are put at risk when one person makes that choice," Assistant Commissioner Smith said.
"We are already counting additional road deaths of more than 40 people so far this year compared to last year; we do not need high-risk behaviour by any driver, anywhere, anytime."
The offences come as Goulburn and Queanbeyan were revealed as a magnet for leadfoot motorists, with both towns being named in the top 10 worst places in New South Wales for speeding drivers.
Goulburn came in third worst, with 2586 speeding offences last year, while Queanbeyan was eighth with 1462, figures from NSW police reveal.
Goulburn was also in the top 10 for offences where motorists were caught speeding more than 45 km/h over the limit.
Police have been just as concerned about motorists speeding in the capital in July.
ACT Policing said in a statement that eight drivers had been caught for speeding by more than 45km/h and 22 drivers were found speeding between 30km/h and 45km/h over the speed limit.
