A man accused of using his car to deliberately mow down a cyclist and a pedestrian has pleaded not guilty to charges stemming from the Yarralumla crash.

Ashley Paul Kelly, 32, was charged after he allegedly deliberately steered his car towards the two victims as they walked and cycled on Alexandrina Drive early one morning in June.
Documents, tendered in court last month, said the cyclist told police he had heard a car's engine rev before it struck him in the side. The car had then braked and he was thrown onto the ground.
The driver got out and said something like, "you got what you f---ing deserved, you shouldn't have been on the road you f---ing idiot."
The cyclist called police. He was treated in hospital for a spine fracture.
When officers arrived, they saw a purple station wagon with extensive damage to its front. Another cyclist told them the car had tried to hit him and police tried to get the car to pull over, before it sped off.
The cyclist later returned and said a person had been hit.
Police found a man curled up on the footpath nearby with blood coming from his mouth.
They said they noticed tyre marks through the grass and dirt to his body.
The pedestrian was taken to hospital where he was treated for a broken jaw and leg and bleeding on the brain.
Police traced the station wagon to Mr Kelly's Ainslie home and he was arrested.
In a police interview, he allegedly denied he was the car's driver.
He said he hadn't tried to hurt the cyclist. He'd stopped to check on him and asked if he'd "seen the light".
Mr Kelly also told police the pedestrian was the devil, court documents said.
He was ordered to undergo a forensic mental health assessment when he faced the ACT Magistrates Court briefly for the first time last month.
The accused was excused from attending court on Friday, when his lawyer entered not guilty pleas to charges of culpable driving causing grievous bodily harm and failing to stop.
The court heard he would fight the charges on mental illness grounds.
Magistrate Peter Morrison said he would not formally enter pleas to more serious offences of attempted murder and intentionally inflicting grievous bodily harm because Mr Kelly had not yet been been charged.
He remains in custody.
The case was adjourned to September 29.
