The Kambah man crashed his Ford Falcon ute into a light pole in Judkins Street, Oxley, then recorded a high-range result from a breath analysis, police said.

About 7.20pm on Tuesday, police found the ute with front-end damage after hitting the pole.

The driver had a bloodied nose but police said he was otherwise uninjured.

He recorded a positive result to a roadside screening test for alcohol and later returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.163, over three times the legal driving limit.

He admitted to police he had been drinking since noon, and had driven from Gungahlin to Oxley.

It was the second high-level drink driving incident for police this week. They said a 48-year-old woman returned a 0.214 blood alcohol reading when police pulled her over for driving erratically on Monday afternoon.

Police in Curtin stopped her silver Nissan Pulsar after it swerved into the breakdown lane, then across two other lanes of traffic, almost hitting their police vehicle.

The woman was issued with an immediate suspension notice.
