John Kenneth Harvey, 66, was sentenced over the crash, which occurred near Queanbeyan in August 2011, in the Queanbeyan Local Court on Tuesday.
Harvey, a disability pensioner, failed to stop after his Holden ute veered onto the wrong side of the road and crashed into the motorcyclist on Old Cooma Road.
He kept driving and lost control, again crossing the road, travelling down an embankment and hitting a tree.
The motorcyclist died, despite attempts by officers to revive him.
Police said Harvey later returned a blood alcohol reading of .200.
Harvey was sentenced to six years jail, with a non-parole period of four years and three months.
His licence was also disqualified for nine years and six months.
