Elderly man woken and bashed in Kambah home

An elderly man has been assaulted in his bedroom in the middle of the night in a violent home invasion in Canberra's south.

Two men broke into the 73-year-old's Kambah house some time between 1.25am and 1.55am on Wednesday.

The victim was woken by the pair, who assaulted the man in his bedroom before demanding money. They left shortly after with the man's wallet.

The elderly man was taken to The Canberra Hospital with minor injuries.

Police are interested in speaking to any members of the public who travelled along Boddington Crescent, Kambah between 1am and 2am, or may have recently seen persons acting suspiciously in the area.
