The Hornets flypast of ADFA was at 10.20am, flying from east to west at an altitude of 150 metres, for the Chief of Defence Force Parade.
A C-17A Globemaster will do another flypast, at 11am, flying overhead at 90 metres altitude from east to west, then re-approaching ADFA to overfly the parade from south to north.
"The parade is a significant milestone in the career of year one officer cadets and midshipmen as it marks the end of their initial military training at ADFA and symbolically represents their acceptance into the academy," the air force says.
The fly past was also to recognise Chief of the Defence Force, Air Chief Marshal Binskin, who was attending his final parade in the role.
Air Chief Marshal Binskin told the 329 officer cadets about the unique role of military leaders.
"It is a great privilege to exercise the responsibility of leadership on behalf of the Australian Defence Force at any level," Air Chief Marshal Binskin said.
"From the moment you were sworn in, you accepted the responsibility of leadership and by default, the trust of the Australian people with an expectation that you will uphold the highest standards – always."
