A Canberra man will spend at least nine years behind bars for the brutal, degrading and ice-fuelled rapes of his ex-partner in her own home.

The 38-year-old turned up uninvited to the woman's Stirling house about 5.30am on July 14, 2015.
He had spent the hours before in an Anytime Fitness, where surveillance video captured him moving around exercising, stretching and masturbating.
He later told police he'd been "hitting the ice hard".
When the man arrived at the woman's home he banged on the door until she let him in, said he loved her and proceeded to rape and beat her, threatening to shoot her in the face and rape her corpse.
"I'm going to stay here all day and I'm going to rape you until you can't move," the man told the woman.
She tried to resist, bit him and begged him to stop.
He at first tried to get her to take him back, but when she turned him down said things like, "now that he'd f---ed it he may as well do whatever he wants".
The man was at the time under an interim domestic violence order not to go near the house.
The degrading two-hour attack, in which he knocked the woman's teeth out and spat on her, only ended when the woman managed to secretly call her friend in between the beatings and rapes.
Last week she looked her attacker in the eyes when she read out a victim impact statement to the court, which included a harrowing account of the ordeal.
She said she was a shell of her former self and lived as a corpse, with no visible future to live for.
"What I experienced was looking into the eyes of Satan himself.
"I was strong, independent and willing to make an effort. I was raped, not once, not twice but so many times and in so many ways that it all becomes a blur.
"Raped repeatedly, methodically, hour-upon-hour with my only reprieve from this torturous rape being the fleeting moments between unimaginable rape and unthinkable beatings forced upon me."
The court heard the man's elderly father had written a letter and said: "He is not a violent person but he changes completely when in the grip of that damned ice."
The man was now likely be in jail when his father died, an unfortunate consequence of his conduct, the sentencing judge David Mossop said.
The man had pleaded guilty to the crimes in the week before his trial was scheduled to begin last year.
Justice Mossop spent nearly an hour on Friday detailing the man's crimes to the court before sentencing him, sparing none of the confronting detail in order to convey the depravity of the crimes.
He said the man had exploited his superior physical capacity to launch the attack on a woman who was minding her own business at home.
The judge sentenced the man on Friday to more than 15 years in prison for the attack, with a period of 9 years and six months non-parole.
He will be eligible for release in June 2025.
