Investigations are continuing into the cause of a fire at a Fyswick recycling facility which caused a plume of smoke over the suburb on Tuesday afternoon.
Firefighters initially feared the smoke from Access Recycling on Lithgow Street may have been toxic and warned people nearby to close their windows and avoid breathing in the smoke.
But by 1:30pm ACT Fire and Rescue gave the all-clear after carrying out atmospheric monitoring of the surrounding area when the fire was extinguished.
The ACT Ambulance Service also attended but no patients were treated.
Employees of the company watched from their offices nearby as smoke rose from the fire in a pile of recycled material.
Compressed air foam tankers were used to extinguish the fire.
