Fire fighters attended serviced apartments in Braddon on Friday night after a washing machine malfunctioned and caught fire.

An Emergency Services Agency spokesman said the fire at the Mort Street apartment had been put out, with no evacuation needed.
"A dryer/washing machine has had a malfunction," the spokesman said.
"Two pumpers and a Hazmat [Hazardous Materials Unit] are on site."
There were no injuries.
