A Gowrie home sustained minor damage tonight after a fire started on a kitchen stove.
An ACT Emergency Services spokesman said the stove, which was heating food, was left unattended.
Firefighters were called to the three-bedroom home on Castleton Crescent and Coningham Street at 5.04pm. Nobody was inside when firefighters arrived, but they rescued a cat during the operation. The fire was extinguished after 5.30pm and no injuries were reported.
Earlier today, firefighters managed to extinguish a house fire in Isabella Plains this afternoon before it got out of control.
ACT Fire and Rescue forced their way into the four bedroom home on Muir Close shortly after 3.30pm.
Firefighters extinguished the fire on a portable gas stove upon entry and later conducted air monitoring operations.
