A meeting at Sydney Airport almost 18 months ago started a sporting relationship, so it is fitting ACT Brumbies star Matt Toomua and dual international Ellyse Perry will jet off on Thursday for the biggest moments of their careers.

Toomua is preparing for the Brumbies' Super Rugby final against the Waikato Chiefs in Hamilton while Perry is flying out for the women's Ashes in Britain.
But the pair won't cross paths before taking off on their journeys to opposite sides of the world.
Toomua and Perry have been seeing each other since a chance meeting in Sydney last year.
Toomua was about to fly to a Brumbies trial game in Darwin while Perry was getting ready to play for the Australian cricket team.
Perry is the darling of Australian female sport and has played for the national cricket and soccer teams since she was a teenager.
She was part of Canberra United's championship-winning W-League squad last year but missed the final.
Toomua is enjoying the best season of his Super Rugby career with the Brumbies. The 23-year-old set up the winning try with 90 seconds left in the Brumbies' semi-final against the Pretoria Bulls last weekend.
He was also picked in the Wallabies squad last week and is being touted as Australia's best fly-half.
The playmaker will lead the Brumbies into action in the final and said the prospect had not yet sunk in.
Toomua made his debut in 2008, but spent the first four years of his career waiting for an opportunity.
''It's really exciting, it's surreal in a way but we've got to get over that to get a result and not get overawed by the occasion,'' Toomua said. ''We're realistic about it, we have done something special but the job's not finished.'' The Brumbies will play at 5.35pm Australian time.
The Southern Stars begin their Ashes campaign on August 11.
