Five people have been charged over the searches at the prison on Tuesday night.
Four search warrants were executed within the Alexander Maconochie Centre at 7.30pm on Tuesday, following an extensive police investigation.
The cells of a number of detainees was searched, and police seized an amount of methylamphetamine and cannabis, as well as six mobile phones.
Following on from the search of prison cells, police searched a home in Stirling, in Canberra’s south, where a substance believed to be methylamphetamine was found. Documents were also seized.
A 22-year-old woman was arrested at the property, and will face court at a later date.
Also on Tuesday, four people, including two Canberrans, were arrested in Sydney by NSW Police. A trafficable quantity of drugs was also seized.
Charges will be laid at a later date over the prison search.
