Five car pile up on Majura Road

Five cars have been involved in a crash causing major traffic disruptions on Majura Road, north of the airport, police say.

The road was entirely blocked for a short period while police attended the scene, leading to queues of up to 1km.

Police are now releasing some of the traffic and directing it around the crash site, however traffic is still moving slowly and police are urging motorists to avoid the area.

At least two of the cars could not be moved, and police are waiting for the arrival of tow trucks before the road can be fully reopened.

Ambulance and fire services had not received any calls for assistance.
