But locals are familiar with the quiet thrill that comes from witnessing fog as it lifts from Lake Burley Griffin early in the morning or the sight of snow-tipped mountains behind Parliament House.
And many have picked up their camera to capture the small pleasures of Canberra's cold season this year.
