Emergency services were called to the scene after a four-wheel-drive and a sedan crashed while travelling south near the intersection with Bungendore Road shortly after 6pm.
The male driver of the 4WD suffered serious spinal injuries and was taken to Canberra Hospital along with two other occupants.
The sedan carried four occupants. One of the passengers was also taken to Canberra Hospital with minor injuries.
The crash caused extensive delays for Canberra-bound drivers after southbound lanes were closed for several hours. Traffic was later diverted through the northbound lanes, while northbound traffic took the Old Federal Highway. NSW Police are investigating the crash and witnesses are urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
