The cause of a car fire which forced the evacuation of a Woden apartment complex overnight and destroyed two vehicles is being investigated by ACT Fire and Rescue.

Firefighters were called to Eldridge Crescent at Garran shortly before 11pm to find a vehicle alight in a carport under the building.
The apartment block was evacuated and around 25 people were unable to return to their homes until around 3am.
Several ACT Fire and Rescue pumpers and the HAZMAT unit and commanders attended the scene.
Fire crews provided displaced residents with cups of tea and a warm place to wait out the blaze.
Firefighters were ventilating smoke from the building and conducting atmospheric monitoring as of 12.30am, and ensuring the premises was clear before letting occupants back inside.
